Syncing with iCloud
Your KeepItSafe files are stored in one of two locations: either locally on a single device (Mac, iPAD or iPhone) or safely in the Cloud where your KeepItSafe files are shared with all of your Apple devices that have KeepItSafe installed. When you open KeepItSafe for the very first time, you will be asked to select either ‘local’ or ‘cloud’. Going forward, ALL of your KeepItSafe files will be stored either locally or in the Cloud.
You can change the location of your KeepItSafe files at any time. However, there are a few important things to know if you want to change the location of your KeepItSafe files. When you change the location of your KeepItSafe files, and you APPLY that change, a pop-up window will display 3 options:
Leave – leave ALL EXISTING KeepItSafe files in their current location. For example, if those files are local, they will stay local. Only new files will be stored in the Cloud.
Copy – make a copy of ALL EXISTING KeepItSafe files and store them in the new location. For example, if all of your files are local and you switch to the Cloud, a copy of each file will be created and stored in the Cloud. HOWEVER – any updates from that point forward will be made ONLY to the copy in the Cloud.
Move – move ALL EXISTING KeepItSafe files to the new location. For example, if all of your files are local and you switch to the Cloud, they will be moved to the Cloud and removed from local storage.
NOTE: the First Time Setup Tasks help topic describes the steps you need to take when getting started with KeepItSafe including selecting your file storage location.
